Day 8-Mackinac Island

We had to be out of camp right after breakfast in the morning. Eric and I had decided that we would drive over to Mackinac Island, since we were in the area, spend the day there, spend the night at a hotel (not on the island), and then head home the next morning. Even though we had a long week at camp, we were up for one more sight seeing adventure.

Once on the island, we bought tickets for a horse tour of the island, and walked the main road for a bit while we waited for our tour time. We sampled some fudge and had lunch at one of the restaurants there. The main road was super busy (and touristy), and we much preferred the horse ride/tour, which was lovely. We saw some sights including Fort Mackinac and the Grand Hotel. We could have spend a lot more time there, but we had to get back at a decent time to drive to our hotel. It was a unique experience, and I hope to go back someday to spend a little more time there.

Goodbye UPBC-we had a blast!

The beautiful Mackinac Bridge

Finally on Mackinac Island

This is a common sight on the island

Yummy fudge in the making

Ready for our ride

Passing the Grand Hotel

Our tour guide's name was Eden

Another common sight on the island...horse poop! Yes, it's everywhere, and yes, I took a picture.

A view of Fort Mackinac from the ride

We made a stop to see this sight, but I can't remember what the name of it was.

Look at the size of these holes that woodpeckers pecked!

We decided to get off here at Fort Mackinac to have a look around. We didn't purchase tickets to go inside due to time constraints, so we just walked around outside.

Judah loved using his camera to take photos

We walked to the Grand Hotel to get some ice cream there.

Yummy ice cream

They had been waiting patiently (or not-so-patiently) all day for the anticipated ice cream that we promised them at the Grand Hotel

She wastes not time getting messy

These two were so cute eating their ice cream

The scenery was so nice around the island. This is one example of a yard we passed.

Judah saw these cannons after getting off the ferry, and he just had to take pictures of them.

Eden wanted to do a heart with her and daddy's hands.

Heading home the next morning
