Grand Haven 2017

Eric and I decided to do four days/three nights in Grand Haven, MI with the kids this year for a small beach getaway. We have typically done Saugatuck in the past, but we wanted to try something a little different this year. We are supposed to be doing a week of family camp at the beginning of August for our "vacation", but we still wanted to do a short vacation with just the five of us, so Michigan seemed liked a good choice! We spent three days at three different beaches just playing and having fun. Unfortunately (for me), this trip was not all that great, because I ended up getting the stomach flu the second day. Two of the kids had been sick earlier in the week, but I thought we were in the clear. Apparently, I was mistaken. We had originally had some fun evening ideas to do with the kids and some fun places we wanted to eat, but those ideas had to be put aside since I wasn't up for going out to eat or stay up late. Instead of fun eats, my husband came to the rescue with saltine crackers and sprite. Ah well...we tried to make the best of it.

Our first day, we couldn't check into our place until 4:00, so we decided to stop at the Warren Dunes State Park on the way and beach there for a while. After having beach time, two of the kids and Eric climbed the huge dune hill (Asher was not up for the task). We arrived to Grand Haven in time for dinner, which we had on the boardwalk.

You can see the large dune hill behind the kids

Judah loves loves loves the water. We call him "water boy" because there is no keeping him out of the water. He spends just about the entire time in the water, whether it is sitting in the waves, throwing the ball with daddy, or just swimming around. His eyes are usually red after we leave the beach from having them underwater so much.

Eden spends a little time in the water, but spends most of her time building things in the sand.

Asher does not like to get in the water. This is as close as he likes to get...just at the water's edge. He might splash his feet around or go fill up a bucket with water, but he does not go in the water.

Asher found this stick, and he was very happy about it. This kid is such a goof!

Mommy and Eden dug a big hole!

Ready to climb! It's hard to get a sense of the size of the dune from the pictures. Eden said she was only going to go halfway up, but she ended up going the whole way.

It's a little hard to see them, but just look for Judah with the bright yellow shirt.

They made it to the top!

Judah came running down the hill
