New York-Last Day

For our last day in NY, we took a fairy to Freedom Island to visit the lovely Statue of Liberty. This was one of my favorite activities. Lady Liberty was quite the sight to behold. Her size alone was impressive, but her detail and history add to her grandeur. We also had pedestal tickets, so we were able to go up and see the sights, which was really neat. After spending time on Freedom Island, we made our way over to Washington Square Park, and then headed on to the airport.

We had such a fun trip, and we are so grateful that we were able to go. It's a real treat to be able to take a trip like this while having three younger kiddos at home (thank you, Grandad and Grammie for being willing to watch them!). Goodbye for now, New York!

Another shot of the One World Trade Center-very cool building. I love the reflection of the sky in the building.

There she is!

She was so magnificent!

This is a statue of the man who conceived the idea for the Statue of Liberty.

This was the original light on the statue, but it had to be replaced because the glass panes were leaking.

One of my favorite pictures

This is the "Sphere for Plaza Fountain" that was originally in the World Trade Center plaza. It survived the towers' collapse relatively intact. The sphere was eventually relocated to Battery Park in Lower Manhattan. It was originally sculpted as a symbol of world peace.
