Seattle-Day 1 (cont.)

Our next stop was the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum. This was an unexpected highlight for us. The glass masterpieces were spectacular. We marveled at the talent involved in the making of this artwork. Pictures really don't do it justice. We also attended a glass blowing demonstration after we walked through the museum, and that was really neat, too. We were blown away by the artistry and the talent involved in glass art.

The space needle is located right next to the museum.

This was so pretty. The ceiling was lined with all of these glass flowers.

Eric and I thought the glass blowing demonstration was so great-a highlight for sure. Neither of us had seen how the process is done, and we were so impressed at the level of skill involved. We both commented on how interesting we thought this was!

Various tools are used to get the desired shape. By the end, this will be a bowl.

This is how they add color

He's showing us how hot glass can be stretched, but as soon as it is cool, it's fragile.

There's very little blowing in glass blowing, but here is an example of one of the demonstrators blowing to expand the hot glass.

Here, he is adding a stripe of color to the lip of the bowl.

More garden views

On to the Space Needle. This is one of those pictures that they take before you go up.

It was a beautiful clear day on the top of the Space Needle. If you look hard, you can see Mt. Rainier!

After the Space Needle, we walked through Freeway Park. This unusual park completely covers a stretch of downtown freeway.

We had a little time to kill before our dinner reservations, so we stopped in to sit at the Starbucks Reserve - Roastery & Tasting Room. Eric got a drink and we took a little break from walking.

Off to dinner!

This place was so cute and even though we sat inside, it was open to the outside.

On the fairy headed back to Bainbridge Island

This was the place where we stayed (on the lower level). It was such a cute place (although I forgot to take pictures of the inside). I told Eric that I kind of wished that we weren't as busy so we could spend more time relaxing here! And they had chickens. :)
