A Boy and His Bike

Up until this year, Judah has not been interested in riding a bike (even with training wheels). He never wanted to peddle his tricycle or anything with pedals. We have tried to get him to ride, but to no avail. He simply was not motivated to ride a bike, and also had fears of falling off or not being able to do it. So, Eric and I got him a bike for his 5th birthday, and we decided we would really encourage him and focus on bike riding this summer (we KNOW he can do it). Judah was excited when he saw his new bike and helmet, and agreed that he would try to practice and ride this summer (we added a little incentive). Once Eric helped him out a little bit, and Judah got the hang of peddling, we could just see his confidence on his face. It was so neat to see. He's still working on going from one end of the sidewalk to the other without stopping, but I am so proud of him. Even though he is learning on training wheels, I think he will really have the hang of it in no time. :) Go Judah!!!

Unfortunately, we had a minor set-back the following day. Judah had a minor fall and scraped his elbow pretty good, and it took me a while to calm him down. After that, he wouldn't ride his bike unless Eric had his hand on him. Looks like knee and elbow pads might be a good investment. :) But not to worry, he is already talking about getting back on his bike again to practice riding.

Eric was teaching him how to brake
