Christkindlmarket 2012

We took our annual trip to Chicago for the Christkindlmarket last weekend (I am a week late getting this post up).  Judah has been asking to ride "Daddy's train" for a while now, and we thought this would be the perfect opportunity for him to do this!  So, Eric and Judah actually took the train downtown just the two of them, while Eden and I drove to the city to meet up with them.  That way, Judah would get his train experience, but we could all drive home together and not be subject to the train scedule for getting home.

It was a bit chilly out, but it usually is when we go, so we just bundle up and keep moving.  We used the double stroller again this year although Judah is too big for it, but we made it work anyway.  The market is always filled with yummy food and beautiful things to see.  Judah liked to look at all the ornaments and even helped mommy pick one out for the tree this year.  Eden was less of a fan, since she would have preferred for us to let her out of the stroller to walk around the market.  Needless to say, that wasn't going to happen, so she fussed for a little while.  We had our traditional potato pancakes with sour cream and Eric got his bratwurst.  This year, we also added walking around Macy's to see the window displays.  Judah seemed to really like that, too.

Traveling to the city with two little ones for something like this can be inconvenient at times for sure, but I do look forward to when the kids are a bit older and we can all enjoy this experience together as a family.  It really is something fun and different to do for the Christmas season.  Oh, and I didn't get many pictures this year because it started drizzling/raining a bit, and I didn't want to risk my camera getting wet.

You can't tell by this pictures, but Judah really did like the Macy's displays.

This is the shop where we got our ornament this year

The big tree

The smell of sweet roasting nuts has to be one of the best smells!
