Christmas Day 2017

I didn't take tons of pictures on Christmas Day this year. I wish I had gotten more of family, but sometimes I forget. :) Typically, we are home for Christmas morning and then venture over to my parents house for the afternoon meal since they are close by, but this year my parents just downsized in December, so we decided to have them over here for the meal. It was really nice to not have to go anywhere on Christmas Day, and the kids liked being home and able to play with their new things.

We also look forward to Christmas since it is one of the few times a year that we get to see my brother (who I didn't get a picture of). My parents went home to take naps after we ate, but Abe stayed and hung out until evening, so it was nice to spend time with him. Another great Christmas in the books. Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve

Our Christmas Eve tradition of singing carols and reading "The Christmas That Almost Wasn't" continues! The kids look forward to singing carols from Grammie and Grandad's songbooks while Grandad plays guitar. The story ("The Chrismas That Almost Wasn't") is in poem form and it is a longer one, so Asher had a harder time keeping interest, but the older two tried reading a few lines here and there. I remember when my parents used to read this story to us growing up, and there were years when my brother and I wished we didn't have to read the same story again, but as an adult, I totally appreciate this constant Christmas tradition! I love that I get to share this same story with my kiddos. It should also be noted that it snowed on Christmas Eve, so we were able to have a white Christmas!

Happy Christmas Eve
