Starved Rock 2016

Last weekend Sunday, we drove out to Starved Rock and hiked for most of the day. It turned out to be an absolutely beautiful day. It was overcast, and we couldn't have asked for nicer hiking weather! We walked tons, so we were all pooped by the end of the day, but we had a lot of fun seeing the sights. The kids especially liked the canyons we saw, and Asher had fun riding on daddy's shoulder for part of the time. Towards the end, we were heading out of the last canyon on a different route than we had entered. We came across a bridge that we were supposed to cross only to discover that it was closed off for minor repairs. We saw a couple people work around the barriers and cross it anyway, so we decided to do the same, since walking back the way we came would take much longer. We made it over just fine, but poor Judah was so worried that we would fall through the bridge (despite our assurances that no such thing would happen). Needless to say, he was relieved when we made it across safely! We had a great time, and as we left, the kids asked when we would be going back next!

She wanted me to take her picture by her favorite leaves.

This is the dreaded bridge.
