Chicago Weekend

This past weekend, we did our annual Christkindlmarket trip into the city. We decided to make it an overnight stay, so we had more time in Chicago. Honestly, I think the kids were more excited about spending the night in a hotel than anything else. We took Judah out of school half-day on Friday (Eden is half-day as well), and we headed to the city. We did the Christkindlmarket, looked at the Macy's windows, grabbed dinner, and headed back to the hotel for a movie and bedtime. On Saturday, we swam in the morning, walked around in the afternoon (we may or may not have visited the Lego and AG store), and then we packed in the car and headed to the Lincoln Park Zoo to see the lights! We ended the night eating dinner at this small but very good pizza place that Eric found. We also try to use this opportunity to do something service-related during our time in the city. This year, we bought McDonalds gift cards and passed them out to the homeless.

It's cute to ask the kids what they liked best when we do something like this. Asher said he liked the Lego store the best (spoken like a true toddler). Judah said he liked swimming at the hotel followed by handing out the McDonalds gift cards. This was cute because he is our child that is more cautious and does not participate in handing out anything to strangers, so I was surprised that this was his answer. I love hearing about the different memories that our kids take away from our adventures. :)

This was Judah's favorite booth.

On to the Macy's windows

Back at the hotel. The kids love looking out the windows. There are these ledges by the windows that the kids like to sit and/or sit on.

Shopping around the city

On our way to the zoo, Asher fell asleep. We had to wake the poor tired kid up to walk around the zoo, and he was not happy about it. I think he cried almost the whole time saying, "I want to go back in the car!". His face says it all in these pictures-poor kid. At least the other two had fun.
