Michigan 2012

Every year, we take a trip to Watervliet, Michigan on Paw Paw Lake.  We go with our good friends, the Gilbertsens (Kurt, Ingrid, Nolan, and Connor), and we stay at Kurt's parents house right on Paw Paw lake.  We always have a fabulous time, and it is something that we look forward to every year.  Eric especially loves going, because it is one of the few times a year (who am I kidding...it's the only time every year) that he gets to "play" in the water, go boat riding, and skiing.

Judah also has a fun time in the water.  I have to take this moment to be a proud mommy.  Earlier in the week, I had taken Judah for a trial swim lesson at a swim club in town.  He likes the water so much, I figured it might be time to get him into some lessons.  Long story short, he was doing okay until the instructor dunked his head under water...after that, he did not want to participate, and he was crying for mommy by the end.  I was a bit surprised by this because he dunks his head under water at home, and we have never had a negative response.  Anyway, while we were in Michigan, Judah was in the lake with Eric and actually asked Eric to put his head under water.  I was totally surprised by this, especially with the negative swim experience just days before.  Eric dunked him under water several times, and every time Judah came up smiling.  I was such a proud mommy.  I kept praising him for being such a brave boy, and he kept talking about how he put his head under water (and didn't cry like at the swim club).  Of course, I had my camera in hand and got some pictures of my little water boy.

This year's trip was very relaxing.  On our way, we stopped at the Warren Dunes to stretch our legs and spend some time on the beach.  Both kids liked standing in the sand as the tide washed over their feet.

What do you see little girl?

Eden liked the water, too (though you can't tell by the look on her face).  As a matter of fact, we put her in a floatie and the motion of the waves almost put her to sleep.  She looked very relaxed.
